Black Button Distilling is a fast-growing company that manufactures craft whiskey, bourbon, vodka and gin in Western NY. Our culture is built on the vision of empowerment, innovation, and teamwork. We are looking for an experienced sales professional with experience selling in a business to business distribution model. We self-distribute to liquor stores, bars, and restaurants throughout in New York State and are looking to hire a salesperson to help strengthen our brand in the Buffalo area.

As a Key Account Manager at Black Button Distilling, you will utilize knowledge of Black Button Distilling products benefits to cultivate existing clients and build your designated sales territory. This role is responsible for practicing our self-distribution model to set up existing and new off-premise customers through their territory. This person will create and maintain their client base by calling on, educating, and building long-term relationships with accounts. A successful candidate will support the client in marketing and building interest in the products they carry to support their store sales. Successful candidates will be passionate about the spirits industry, have a demonstrated ability and motivation to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment, be detail oriented and able to work independently.


Essential
Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Open new accounts and grow product sales through existing clients by upselling and long-term relationship building
  • Provide resources to support store sales and build brand loyalty
  • Grow product sales through upselling and long-term relationship building
  • Provide a consultative sales approach, asking questions rather than simply placing orders
  • Constantly stay informed on new products and communicate benefits to clients
  • Check inventory at stores and negotiate priority shelf position
  • Accurately place sales orders as requested in a timely matter
  • Schedule tastings of Black Button product at the liquor store or on-premise location, attending at least five per month and collaborating with Offsite Events team to staff the remaining
  • Collaborate with Marketing Department to ensure aesthetically pleasing sales support materials, menu placements and more
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Department to ensure timely payments from customers, following up with customers as needed
  • Enter complete information in the CRM for all orders and account visits
  • Develop and follow your own sales route
  • Other duties as opportunities to support Black Button Distilling evolve


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years prior B2B outside selling experience required
  • Ability to cold call, upsell, and identify customer needs
  • Professional selling skills and experience with a 6-month sales cycle are preferred
  • Successful working independently
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others to meet outcomes and work through the sales closing process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite and Outlook
  • An insatiable thirst for learning and desire to know more about the distilling industry
  • Highly motived and results-oriented
  • A collaborative team player with a positive attitude
  • Demonstrated passion for distilled spirits, knowledge of spirits considered a plus
  • Comfort with ambiguity and change, demonstrating a calm demeaner in challenging situations
  • Expert prioritization skills to ensure multiple tasks, projects and deadlines are completed on time
  • Practice 100% compliance with all NYS Liquor Authority laws and directives at all times
  • Frequent travel required through territory.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation


Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally lift 50 lbs
  • Push /pull/ transport of up to 50lbs
  • Ability to travel independently
